The art of embroidery is a tradition in Mugello and goes back centuries and centuries. Barberino di Mugello and the localities of Cavallina and Galliano are areas where, traditionally, needlepoint has a long history.

The art of needlework was passed down from mother to daughter for generations. In the Barberino School of Embroidery women stitched beautiful trousseaus for clients from Tuscany and other Italian regions. This tradition continues on today in the Borgo San Lorenzo school of Embroidery, which has been active since 1979.
