Granfondo del Mugello permanent route
“GRANFONDO CICLOTURISTICA DEL MUGELLO“  becomes “ Permanent route”

From july 15th 2021, every cyclist, or any bike lover who would like to ride in suggestive places, in contact with nature and through characteristic villages, can travel by bicycle a route of 120 km long and with a difference in altitude of about 2300 metres, all in stages, in total autonomy and in every period of the year and by any kind of bicycle.
There's not competition or a time record to win, every cyclist can complete the route in one or more days, it depends on the physical fitness of each one, and on the desire to stop and take the time to appreciate the landscapes and everything else the area offers to visitors. The quite challenging route crosses a large part of the Mugello included the upper Mugello territory.
You will pass through charming places, landscapes rich in colors and scents that will relieve your fatigue.

At the end of the ride, you will be able to obtain the "patent" or "certificate of participation" depending on the type of registration, as better explained below, in the methods of participation.
The initiative is promoted by the Mountain Union of Municipalities of Mugello and by the ASD Mugello Toscana Bike, which also takes care of the organizational aspects.

Route
The starting point is in the municipality of Scarperia and San Piero a Sieve, in the valley: here the 1st stamp will be applied to the card; from here the route coasts Lake Bilancino and climbs towards the Futa Pass. The 2nd check point is at Monte di Fò. The route next descends towards Firenzuola, 3rd check point, and moves in the direction of  Palazzuolo sul Senio after the Paretaio pass, 4th check point . The next and more difficult climb is the Sambuca mountain pass, where they can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Romagna plain: on clear days, you can see as far as the Adriatic sea. From here the route descends towards Borgo San Lorenzo and Scarperia again.
The cyclist can decide to undertake this wonderful experience on any day of the year; they must, however, bear in mind that in autumn and winter the parts of the route that stretch at over 1000 metres above sea level may sometimes present harsh weather conditions and limited visibility. There are rest stops along the entire route that offer food and accommodations for cyclists who wish to travel the route in more than one day.
